Matching amounts of $50,000 to $250,000 now available

In May 2007, the Australian Federal Government announced a new aspect to its successful “Commercial Ready” funding program.
Commercial Ready is a competitive merit-based grants program designed to encourage innovation and commercialisation in the private sector.  The new aspect of the program, “Commercial Ready Plus” allocated A$90.3 million over ten years to emerging companies and spin offs from public research organisations.
A wide range of activities are eligible for matching funding including R&D, proof of concept studies and early stage commercialisation activities.  Amounts of $50,000 to $250,000 are available through a faster and simplified application process for projects of up to 18 months in duration which are in small and medium sized enterprises and in companies controlled by Australian universities or public sector research organisations.  Applicants need not be incorporated until the stage of signing the grant contract.  Eligible expenses include entrepreneurial skills training.
More information can be found at www.ausindustry.gov.au.  Applications opened 3 September 2007.
