Brian Hendy loves skiing, golf, IP and the Mighty Magpies.

“Having worked as a research chemist in my early years, I know what it is like to be an inventor. After a stint working in London, I returned to Australia looking for a job. One of my old mates at the lab bench had made the transition into IP and suggested I join him. I’ve never looked back.”

I AM: committed to a good commercial result

Title: Special Counsel, Patent and Trade Marks Attorney, Director, Watermark Intellectual Property Lawyers.

Qualifications: Diploma of Applied Chemistry.

What I love about IP is that I’m constantly meeting and working with intelligent, innovative people. My main areas of interest are in Chemical Engineering and Trade Marks.

In the last few years, I have become more interested in management of the firm, and my role now is focussed in this space as a 'non-executive' member of the Watermark Board of Management.

My work as a research chemist, before I entered the patent profession, centred on the development of optical brightening agents (resulting in the grant of several patents) and on precursor projects to the development of Australia's polymeric banknotes.

As a trade mark law specialist, I have advised clients in all aspects of trade mark protection and enforcement, including trade mark registration and prosecution, trade mark oppositions, non-use removal actions, registration and infringement advice, trade mark portfolio management, trade mark audits and strategic planning. From time to time, I will continue to bring my expertise to these tasks for Watermark's clients.
