Watermark continues its support of Edith Cowan University’s (ECU) TheLINK, a digital platform to connect industry, academia, SMEs and local, state and federal government to encourage collaboration and enable innovation and business growth.
On Wednesday 22 March, ECU hosted the Watermark GetLINKED! Series event, ‘Digital Entrepreneurship in Action: A Transformational Force Influencing Australia’s Future Economy’, at which leading digital and technology experts shared the challenges around digital disruption and provide insights on how to be more successful as a digital entrepreneur.

Siobhan Lancaster, Co-Founder and CEO of Instatruck
Siobhan is a qualified corporate lawyer and entrepreneur, and passionate about making things work more efficiently. Recently named Growth Category Winner in the prestigious WA Innovator of the Year Awards, Instatruck provides customers with an alternative way of sourcing trucks than the traditional courier and transport companies.
Justin Davies, MD of Emergination and Co-Founder and Director of Prezennt
Justin is a strategic advisor, marketer and digital strategist. Experienced in commercialisation as CEO and mentor on Startup Weekends, Curtin Ignition and Vocus Upstart. Justin is a co-founder and director of Prezennt, a training delivery platform that is seeking to revolutionise the way face-to-face training is delivered.
Todd Sainsbury – Co-Founder of Smartbeat
In 2008 Todd launched a web development business, Brave NU Web, that led him on a journey through the evolution of digital marketing and the changing world of small business and into the tech startup scene. In June 2015, Todd co-founded and launched Smartbeat, a SaaS platform developed to help SMEs see real returns from marketing and promotional efforts.
The second session featured ECU's Digital Entrepreneur Researchers who spoke on defining digital entrepreneurship, what's in and what’s out, and reviewed the top ten characteristics of digital entrepreneurship practice. Presenters included Professor Fang Zhao, Associate Professor Llandis Barratt-Pugh, Dr Yuliani Suseno, Associate Professor Peter Standen and Associate Professor Janice Redmond (School of Business and Law).
